Metta Meditation

Cultivate metta whenever you feel a lack or block in the energy of the heart, such as when you feel resentful, greedy, short-tempered or unforgiving. The term metta is often translated as loving-kindness, however, it is actually closer to the Sanskrit word maitri, which means friendliness; the term tender-hearted could also be used, if loving-kindness is unclear. The Buddhists teach this practice by evoking empathy first towards someone who is easy to love, such as a mentor or benefactor; after arousing these feelings towards someone (or towards a pet) who you cherish, the practice asks you to send the same words towards people who you may feel less loving-kindness towards, including those who are very challenging to love.

Emotional Freedom Technique Sequence video

EFT or Emotional Freedom Technique (commonly known as ‘Tapping’) is a form of energy psychology. It combines stimulating some of the main meridian points of the head and body, while focusing on a conscious bothersome emotion, memory or symptom.

Tapping works by sending a calming signal to the amygdala, which is a part of the brain that controls our reactions to stressful situations. After only a few minutes of tapping on specific points, calming hormones are released into the body and a sense of neutrality around the issue being addressed is experienced.

EFT/Tapping is a powerful tool to use and is effective in uncovering hidden beliefs and old programming that keep us stuck in unhealthy patterns, relationships and choices that limits our possibilities.

In 2012 EFT made the APA as an evidenced based practice and is quickly gaining ground in the western world. Science has found that by tapping on the acupuncture points while focusing on something that causes ‘stressful symptoms and emotions’, it actually re-trains the brain to respond differently. What would normally cause you stress and discomfort now is responded to in a neutral manner. It takes the negative ‘charge’ out of it and causes the body to release the calming hormones instead.

EFT is helpful and very effective for emotional trauma, PTSD, addictions, Phobias & Fears, physical pain, disempowering beliefs, unhealthy patterns, low self-esteem and can help to quickly adopt new beliefs and mindset about self and the unlimited possibilities available to you.
